Racing Club secure victory over Aucas in dramatic game
Racing Club hosted Aucas in a very tight match at the Estadio Presidente Perón. Maxi Romero got the home side off to a good start, scoring in the 12th minute. Juan Nardoni doubled Racing Club’s lead just five minutes later. Aucas came out fighting in the second half and reduced the deficit through Erick Castillo in the 48th minute. Luis Canga equalized for Aucas in the 56th minute. However, Wilker Ángel deflected the ball into his own net in the 86th minute to put Racing Club back in front. The game then turned sour for Racing Club as Maxi Morález was sent off for a second yellow card in the 78th minute. Aubrey David also received a red card in injury time, but Racing Club managed to hold on to win 3-2.
Palmeiras beat Cerro Porteño 2-1 in a close Group C game
Palmeiras beat Cerro Porteño 2-1 in Group C of the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday night. Despite a goal from Cerro Porteño’s Damián Bobadilla in the fifth minute, Palmeiras recovered from the deficit to take the lead with goals from Gustavo Gómez (64th minute) and Rafael Navarro (76th minute). The positive result still keeps Palmeiras in last place in Group C, while the Paraguayan side occupy third position, with all four teams level on 3 points.
Dorlan Pabón’s hat-trick helps Atlético Nacional secure comfortable win over Melgar
Atlético Nacional put in a dominant performance against Melgar in their Copa Libertadores match, winning 3-1 at home. Dorlan Pabón was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick for the Colombians with goals in the 28th minute, a penalty in the 38th minute and another in the 59th minute. Melgar’s Luis Iberico managed to score in the 57th minute, but it was only a consolation as Atlético Nacional went on to win comfortably. The win puts Atlético Nacional top of Group H with six points from two games, while Melgar remain in third place in the group with just one point.
Alianza Lima return home with 3 points from Group G clash
Libertad secured a hard-fought win over Alianza Lima in their Copa Libertadores clash. The match saw both teams create chances in the first half, but it was Alianza Lima who opened the scoring early in the second half through Marco Rodríguez. Pablo Sabbag put the away side 2-0 up in the 71st minute. Óscar Cardozo scored from the penalty spot for Liberated in the 94th minute. The match ended 2-1 to Alianza Lima, who will be happy to have taken all three points.
