In a thrilling encounter in the world of women’s volleyball, Osasco showed their strength, securing a resounding victory over Barueri in the semi-final of the Paulista Women’s Championship. The stakes were high, as Barueri were determined to bounce back after a heavy defeat in the first leg. However, it was Osasco who prevailed impressively, securing their place in the final with a convincing 3-0 win (25/14, 27/25, 25/20).
The match, which took place at José Liberatti in Osasco, was a testament to the home team’s determination and skill. From the start, Osasco showed their dominance, opening up a five-point lead in the first set. The absence of Gabi Carneiro, sidelined by back pain, made Barueri even more of a challenge. The home team took advantage of this and ended up winning the first set with a powerful attack from Lorenne.
The second set was a rollercoaster, full of surprises. Barueri showed their resilience, winning a thrilling 29-second super rally and benefiting from their opponents’ service errors. However, Osasco were unwilling to give in and mounted an incredible comeback. Silvana’s two crucial saves paved the way for Fabiana to draw level at 23-23. It was Fabiana herself who closed out the set 27-25, keeping Osasco’s momentum alive.
The third set maintained the intensity of the match, with neither team giving an inch. The score remained level in the first half of the set. Then Osasco made their move, opening up an 18-16 lead after Fabiana contributed two consecutive points. Lorenne increased the lead to 19-17 with a powerful attack from the right. With the score at 20-17 in favor of the home team, Barueri coach Alê called a time-out in a final attempt to turn things around. Unfortunately for Barueri, Osasco continued to excel, closing out the set 25-20.
With the win, Osasco secured their place in the Paulista final and are now looking for their 17th title. Their opponents in the final will be determined by the result of the match between Sesi-Bauru and Pinheiros.
