Bayern Munich have officially signed Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz from Maccabi Tel Aviv in a major deal. This signing is part of a deliberate strategy to strengthen the goalkeeping team and improve their defensive skills.
Peretz, a bright 23-year-old prospect, is expected to challenge Sven Ulreich for the job of backup goalkeeper. This advance comes as a result of the prolonged absence of the renowned Manuel Neuer. Peretz’s devotion to the club is reaffirmed with a five-year contract extension until June 2028.
“For any aspiring child, wearing the shirt of a prestigious club like Bayern is the ultimate dream,” said Peretz. My ambition was clear from the moment I heard about Bayern’s interest: to be part of this incredible team. “I was looking forward to the challenges and triumphs that lay ahead.“

Peretz has continuously demonstrated his excellent skills since his professional debut in 2020. In 101 competitive games for Tel Aviv, he showed surprising skill by conceding just 82 goals and keeping 44 clean sheets. His international performances were also impressive, especially at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, when he didn’t concede a goal in four games. Peretz’s penalty saves against Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Jessic Ngankam in particular caught the eye during Israel’s tense 1-1 draw with Germany.
Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen expressed confidence in the new signing, saying: “With Daniel Peretz, our goalkeeping team is very well prepared, not just for this season, but for the near future.” Daniel had enormous potential and had already proved his talent on national and international stages.“
Manuel Neuer, who suffered a leg injury during a skiing adventure last winter, has yet to return. Yann Sommer was signed from Borussia Mönchengladbach and stayed at Bayern for a short time before moving to Inter Milan. Alexander Nübel, who previously played for Monaco, has signed a one-year loan deal with VfB Stuttgart.
Bayern Munich began their Bundesliga title defense with a 4-0 win over Werder Bremen. In their next match, they will host Augsburg in what will be their first home game of the season. The arrival of Daniel Peretz is expected to add even more excitement and competitiveness to the team’s already colorful mix.
