Morning, a post I saw from BB4 really echoed how I and a lot of Glasgow Rangers fans I know have been feeling. From what I hear, even more from inside the stadium feel the same.
A lot of folk have just reached the stage where they simply can’t be bothered anymore. There’s only so much people can take, and this sense of hopelessness has really set in.
For years, supporters have done everything possible travelling from ground to ground, spending hard-earned money, keeping the club alive, living by the saying “We don’t do walking away”, but at what point do you reach where you just can’t keep digging into your pockets, especially in the financial climate we’re all in right now? Everything costs more, and folk are just getting scunnered with it all.
We’re told to have faith and stay positive, but with every false dawn comes more heartache and more wasted money. It feels like we’re watching the same lacklustre performances, the same players showing no fight, and the same story unfold year after year.
Another manager leaves, another one comes in, full of promises to change things and before long, it’s the same as before. To be fair, Danny Rohl looks like he is trying to change some things, and hopefully that continues. But I’m really hoping we see a real change in attitude especially once the current captain moves on.
Yes, his stats might look great on paper goals, assists, all that but as a captain, his leadership and fight have been lacking for a long time. It’s even more noticeable now that his contract is running down. There’s just no visible fire in him anymore. Whoever takes over that armband next needs to bring back the desire, hunger, and spirit of the captains we used to have.
It’s a sad day when so many fans feel they can no longer get fired up for a Rangers game, even in Europe. The takeover brought excitement, optimism, and hope for a brighter future but so far, the appointments of Russell Martin and Kevin Thelwell, along with the recruitment decisions made, haven’t lived up to expectations.
It’s no wonder the support feels drained. If the players aren’t showing fight, and things behind the scenes keep going wrong, eventually the fans were always going to hit a breaking point. Years of turmoil, heartache, and frustration have taken their toll.
I do feel for Danny. He’s got a massive job on his hands, and with this current squad and Thelwell pulling the strings on recruitment it’s going to take luck hard work and a lot of backing to turn it around.
Do we have one final push left in us? Time will tell. We’ll soon find out if this squad has what some still believe it does. Personally, I can’t see real change coming until the old guard moves on and genuine quality is brought in to lift the team.
Sorry for the negativity it just feels like nothing ever really changes when it comes to Rangers these days!
