The history of Brazilian soccer at the Pan American Games is remarkable, having won a total of seven gold medals. The men’s team has won gold on four occasions, most recently in 1987 in Indianapolis, USA. Since then, Brazil has settled for silver in 2003 and bronze in 2015. The other gold medals were won at the 1963 edition, held in São Paulo, at the 1975 Games in Mexico City (where he shared the medal with the Mexican team), and at the 1979 Games in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
When the Brazilian team assembles to compete in Santiago, it will carry the hopes and aspirations of a nation eager to regain gold in the men’s soccer category.
