In a thrilling NBA preseason clash, the Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves showed their skills on the court, each claiming their third consecutive victory to maintain their unblemished preseason record.
Atlanta Hawks beat New Orleans Pelicans
Onyeka Okongwu, a rising player for the Atlanta Hawks, led the attack with a great effort, scoring 18 points. The Hawks beat the New Orleans Pelicans in a tight battle, winning 110-105. Despite Zion Williamson’s 16-point performance, the Pelicans fell to 0-3, still looking for their first win of the preseason.
Okongwu showed exceptional accuracy, shooting 80% from the floor and grabbing six important rebounds. Trae Young, Dejounte Murray and Jalen Johnson had excellent games, with Young and Murray falling out of contention at the start of the third quarter when the Hawks opened up a 29-point lead.
In addition, Hawks first-round pick Jordan Hawkins made a big impact, hitting five 3-pointers and scoring 17 points to help Atlanta maintain its unblemished preseason record.
Timberwolves shine in win over Knicks
The Minnesota Timberwolves extended their excellent pre-season success by beating the New York Knicks 121-112. Naz Reid led the Timberwolves with 22 points, while Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns scored 17 points.
Remarkably, the Timberwolves shone from beyond the arc, hitting 20 three-pointers, five of which were made by Reid and four by Towns. RJ Barrett led the Knicks with 23 points, Miles McBride scored 16 and Evan Fournier, who returned to the team after sitting out last season, scored 15 points and hit three three-pointers.
After two great preseason games in Abu Dhabi, the Timberwolves showed their brilliance in their first clash in the USA to maintain their perfect preseason record, which currently stands at 3-0. Meanwhile, the Knicks are now 1-1 after this setback.
Utah Jazz beat Portland Trail Blazers
In another preseason game, the Utah Jazz beat the Portland Trail Blazers 138-133. Lauri Markkanen led the scoring with 26 points and nine rebounds in just 25 minutes of action. Keyonte George (17 points), Collin Sexton (16 points) and John Collins (15 points) had excellent games for the Jazz.
For the Trail Blazers, Anfernee Simons was a force to be reckoned with, scoring 29 points on 80% shooting. Jerami Grant and Shaedon Sharpe also contributed with 24 and 20 points respectively.
