In a move that caused a stir in the soccer world, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo announced the appointment of Tite as their new coach. The 62-year-old Brazilian tactician signed a contract on Monday night, solidifying his return to club management after an incredible tenure as coach of the Brazilian national team.
The official announcement was made on Flamengo’s social media at 7.20pm on Monday, confirming Tite’s contract until December 2024. The experienced coach wasted no time in starting his activities at Flamengo’s training ground, the Ninho do Urubu, the following day.
Tite’s coaching team will have a mix of experience and knowledge, with assistants Matheus Bachi, Cléber Xavier and César Sampaio joining forces with renowned fitness coach Fábio Mahseredjian and performance analyst Lucas Oliveira.
This significant change marks Tite’s return to club management after an outstanding period with the Brazilian national team. During his time with the Seleção, Tite secured victory in the 2019 Copa America and led Brazil to two World Cup quarter-finals, in 2018 and 2022.
Flamengo fans are optimistic about Tite’s arrival, seeing him as the ideal candidate to lead the team’s resurgence on the pitch after a challenging season in 2023. Flamengo have had two previous coaches in charge this year, with Vítor Pereira’s tenure cut short after a series of disappointing results, followed by Jorge Sampaoli, whose stint was marked by setbacks in important competitions.
From now on, the club’s main focus remains the Campeonato Brasileiro, where they currently occupy fifth place with 44 points, 11 points behind leaders Botafogo after 26 games. The appointment of Tite has brought new hope and expectations for Flamengo, who want to climb the standings and seek success in the remaining games of the season.
