Luton Town – Tottenham – 0:1
Tottenham temporarily took the lead in the Premier League with a hard-fought win over Luton Town. Note that the visitors were outnumbered for the entire second half because Bissouma received two yellow cards before the break.
The only goal was scored in the 52nd minute by Dutch defender Micky van de Ven, who sent the ball into the net after James Maddison’s precise corner kick. Note that in the first half, Adebayo (Luton Town)’s goal was disallowed due to a foul.
This win continues Tottenham’s unbeaten run in the league, which includes six wins and two draws. Regardless of the match between Man City and Arsenal, the team will remain in the top three after this round.
Richarlison was the only Brazilian in Tottenham’s starting line-up. He had two important chances at the start of the game, one of which was expertly tipped over the crossbar and the other requiring a save from the opposing goalkeeper. Richarlison’s performance showed impressive skill mixed with occasional fumbles. However, he was replaced by Hojbjerg at half-time. Meanwhile, Emerson Royal entered the game at right-back in the 76th minute.
Burnley – Chelsea – 1:4
Chelsea secured back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since March by pulling off a remarkable comeback to beat Burnley. The hosts, eager to end a run of four straight home defeats on their return to the top flight this season, opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Wilson Odobert scored his first goal in English soccer, leaving the visitors stunned.
Chelsea struggled to react until three minutes before half-time, when Ameen Al Dakhil unintentionally scored an own goal, giving Mauricio Pochettino’s side a much-needed draw.
Cole Palmer took advantage of a penalty awarded after Raheem Sterling was fouled in the box, scoring his first goal for the London club. Sterling later scored another impressive goal, and a fourth goal from substitute Nicolas Jackson sealed the win, taking Chelsea to ninth place in the Premier League standings. In contrast, Burnley remained in the relegation zone, having only managed one win this season.
Thiago Silva, Chelsea’s only Brazilian player, put in a commanding performance in the center of the pitch, nullifying any aerial threat in his penalty area. On the other hand, Vitinho, Burnley’s only Brazilian player, started the match well and was involved in Odobert’s goal. However, he struggled to contain Raheem Sterling and was responsible for the penalty conceded.
Manchester United – Brentford – 2:1
After conceding a goal in the 26th minute, the Old Trafford hosts managed to snatch victory with two late goals. Just like in the famous 1998/1999 Champions League final.
It looked like Brentford would overtake their opponents in the standings and claim their second win of the season, but Ten Hag’s substitution worked. In the 87th minute, the coach brought on McTominay. Who would have thought that in the remaining time the player would not only level the score, but also bring home three points.
Of Manchester United’s Brazilian players, Casemiro was the only one in the starting line-up. However, he had a difficult match as he struggled with possession and looked slow without the ball. The loss of possession contributed to Brentford’s goal and the team struggled to keep control of the ball. As a result, he was substituted at half-time. On the other hand, Anthony came on as a substitute and showed determination and effort, but, as in the past, he couldn’t get the decisive final result.
