A few moments after the start of the fight, Green landed a precise left straight that sent Dawson to the canvas. Green followed quickly, applying a flurry of ground-and-pound blows until the fight was stopped at 0:33 of the first round.
Despite being a 37-year-old fighter with no ranking, Bobby Green entered the fight as a big underdog. However, he eliminated Dawson efficiently, demonstrating impeccable timing with his straight left hand that led to Dawson’s quick defeat.
At UFC 291 in July, Green beat Tony Ferguson, scoring one of the most notable victories of his career. He continued that momentum by defeating Grant Dawson, who was widely considered a strong contender, having maintained an unbeaten streak dating back to 2016 before that defeat.
After this achievement, Bobby Green is expected to re-enter the rankings and will probably be lined up for another high-profile fight, given the abundance of prominent and exciting contenders in the 155 lb weight class.
Heavyweight fight: Philipe LINS (BRAZIL) – Ion Cutelaba (Moldova)
During UFC Vegas 80, the fight between Philipe Lins and Ion Cutelaba was pulled from the card on Saturday night due to Lins falling ill on the day of the fight. Despite the efforts of the medical professionals, the fight had to be taken off the schedule. This development was announced during the broadcast of UFC Vegas 80.
This incident marks the third time that Lins has been involved in a match that had to be called off at short notice. A similar situation occurred in a heavyweight fight in 2021, when Lins withdrew from the card shortly before the weigh-in, where he was scheduled to face Ben Rothwell. Then, in 2022, Lins’ fight with Maxim Grishin was canceled during the UFC APEX broadcast.

Mateus Mendonça was determined to secure a leg kick against Nate Maness at UFC Fight Night 229, which eventually led to his own knockout. Maness demonstrated his ground-and-pound skills by countering Mendonca’s repeated attempts to fight with strong blows to the face, prompting the referee to intervene at 4:40 of the first round.
This victory carries significant weight for Maness, who came into the fight after two consecutive defeats against Umar Numragomedov and Tagir Ulanbekov. He took the opportunity to put this streak behind him and called for his next opponent after the fight.
