Juventus – Lecce 1:0
Arkadiusz Milik scored the winning goal for Juventus against Lecce in the Serie A clash between the two teams. Roberto D’Aversa’s side have made a brilliant start to the season and, even after the defeat, remain in the top five. Juve moved up to third place.
Federico Chiesa hit a shot from outside the box early on and Wladimiro Falcone breathed a sigh of relief. Earlier, Milik slipped a pass to Weston Mckennie, whose cross was deflected by Falcone, but fortunately Marin Pongračić was there to save his club.
It was a lacklustre first half, with both teams level at 0-0. Massimiliano Allegri’s side eventually opened the scoring with a wonderfully crafted team move. Chiesa fed Milik, who passed the ball to McKennie. The USA international delivered a cross that was sent into the danger area by Adrien Rabiot, before Milik struck from close range.
Brazilian defender Danilo played a pass to Rabiot, the Frenchman shot across goal, but none of the strikers could get close. Chiesa then combined with Filip Kostic and did a bit of trickery, but Lecce managed to clear their lines. Mohamed Kaba, who had already received a yellow card, was brought down inside the Juventus penalty area and received a red card for a second yellow cardable offense (simulation).
“We analyzed the game [contra o Sassuolo] and did well in the first 20 minutes. We want to press high and play modern soccer, as the coach wants. There were individual mistakes [contra o Sassuolo], but we beat Lecce with a good second-half performance“Chiesa told DAZN after the match.
Juve captain Danilo almost got an assist as he played the entire match. His Brazilian teammate, Gleison Bremer, was reckless in his challenges and survived a booking as he also played the full ninety minutes. For Lecce, Brazilian Strefezza spent 63 minutes on the pitch.
