Girona secured their fourth win in a row by beating Granada 4-2 at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. The match was marked by a flurry of emotions and goals, leaving players and fans with unforgettable memories. The win moved Girona up to third place in the points table and joined second-placed Barcelona on the same points after five matchdays.
Girona’s dominance was evident from the first moments. Viktor Tsyhankov opened the scoring in the 22nd minute (Savio made a pass), putting his team in the lead. Granada tried to recover, but their efforts were undermined when Myrto Uzuni was shown a yellow card just a minute later. The tension increased even more when O. Melendo, from Granada CF, was cautioned in the 33rd minute.
Taking advantage of these moments, Girona extended their lead with two quick goals. In the 31st minute, Sávio scored, followed by David López’s goal in the 34th minute. At half-time, the score was 0-3 to Girona.
However, Granada refused to give up and made two changes in the 62nd minute, injecting new energy into their team. Their efforts were rewarded with Uzuni’s goal in the 63rd minute, rekindling Granada’s hopes of a comeback. The hosts continued to attack and, in the 85th minute, their efforts paid off: Boyer scored, reducing the gap to 2-3. But Girona responded almost immediately with a goal from Couto, giving them the final score of the match.
It’s worth highlighting the brilliant performance of Girona’s Brazilians – Sávio and Yan Couto, who scored a goal each. In the next round, Las Palmas face Granada and Girona play Mallorca.
