In an interview, Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt expressed his satisfaction with the harmonious collaboration between his club and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) regarding the shared responsibilities of coach Fernando Diniz, who recently took over as coach of the Brazilian national team. This development follows Diniz’s successful debut, which led the Brazilian team to a convincing 5-1 win over Bolivia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Bittencourt emphasized that Diniz’s simultaneous roles with Fluminense and the national team didn’t hinder Tricolor’s daily operations. He conveyed his confidence in the management of this unique arrangement, highlighting Fluminense’s continued strong performance in this year’s Brazilian Championship, equaling its achievements from the previous season. It’s worth remembering that, after 22 games, the club is in 5th place.
“We had no doubt that she [a Seleção] wouldn’t interfere. But people are waiting for the results… We know that the work as a whole is good. We have the same score in this year’s Campeonato Brasileiro as we did last year. That’s two whole Brazilian championships with Fluminense fighting at the top of the table” said Bittencourt.
