São Paulo FC are gearing up for what could be a record Copa do Brasil final as they prepare to face Flamengo in the next decisive match. The second leg of this exciting clash will take place at the Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo on the 24th, while the first leg at the Maracanã Stadium is scheduled for the following Sunday.
In anticipation of this high-profile clash, the club has adjusted ticket prices, with the aim of surpassing the remarkable ticket revenue obtained during the semi-final against Corinthians, which reached R$8.5 million – an all-time record for the club.
The increases in ticket prices vary, ranging from a 100% increase for the South Stand (from R$150 to R$300) to a substantial 300% increase for the Corporate Box (from R$500 to R$2,000). Even the tickets for the popular North Stand were increased by 166%, from R$75 to R$200.
Despite some setbacks and schedule changes during ticket sales last week, São Paulo FC is confident of a successful turnout. The quota for the supporters’ program was quickly sold out, and only members of the highest-priced plan had access. Popular tickets, originally scheduled to go on sale on Monday, were released on Saturday.
São Paulo FC is also eyeing attendance records for the year, hoping to surpass the previous record of 62,093 spectators at a single match – a derby against Corinthians. However, this final will include a visitors’ section, slightly reducing the stadium’s capacity to ensure adequate separation between fans.
Fans who have secured tickets for the final will need to exchange them for physical tickets, which will be mandatory for access to the security perimeter around the Morumbi on the day of the match. Although this measure has been criticized, especially by non-local fans, the club is studying adjustments and will hold discussions with the Military Police to address the concerns.
