The legal team representing soccer player Antony, who was dropped from the Brazilian national team due to ongoing investigations into alleged physical and psychological abuse against his ex-girlfriend, issued a statement on Thursday. A police inquiry has been opened to investigate the matter.
According to the law firm in charge of representing the Manchester United player, Antony told the authorities during a statement in June this year that he had a “turbulent relationship” with the DJ and influencer, characterized by “emotional instability, but never violence”.
Anthony was suspended from the Brazilian team on Monday after the investigation came to light. As a result, he was unable to play in the first round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, when
Brazil beat Bolivia 5-1 in Belém.

Due to the facts that came to light on Monday (04/09), involving Manchester United striker Antony, and which need to be investigated, and in order to protect the alleged victim, the player, the Brazilian national team and the CBF, the entity informs that the athlete has been removed from the Brazilian national team,” the CBF said in a statement.
The player’s legal team quickly took action with a statement of their own. The player’s representatives refuted all allegations against the Manchester United star and trusted the judiciary to deliver a verdict that will absolve their client of all charges.
“Footballer Antony Matheus dos Santos has been the target of unfounded accusations made by his ex-girlfriend. Antony, through his legal representatives, has been closely following the police investigations within the scope of the inquiry underway at the 5th Police Station for the Defense of Women and trusts in the seriousness of the work carried out by the police authority“, says the statement.
In a statement given in June, he described a tumultuous relationship with Gabriela, marked by disagreements, arguments, mutual verbal insults, always driven by emotion, but he vehemently denied any act of physical or psychological aggression. Her testimony portrays a conflictual relationship, with break-ups and reunions, marked by suffering and emotional instability, but never by violence.
“The investigation is under judicial secrecy and no further comment can be made on its content. Out of respect for the presumption of innocence, we expect the media to treat us soberly, impartially, cautiously and professionally, and we trust that the Civil Police, the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Judiciary will act impartially and respect the right to defense. Antony will remain at the disposal of the police authorities, confident that, in the end, the truth will prevail with the recognition of his innocence” the statement concluded.
