Minas Tênis Clube (Minas) secured their place in the final of the Men’s Volleyball Super League for the third year running by beating Suzano 3 sets to 1. The match took place on April 19, with the Belo Horizonte team winning the first set comfortably at the Suzano Arena, 25-16. Suzano recovered in the second set, but Minas kept their composure and won the set 27-25.
Suzano, newly promoted from Superliga B, dominated the third set and extended their stay in the Superliga by 25-23. Minas came out on top again in the fourth set, opening up an early lead that they maintained throughout the match. Although Suzano reduced the deficit at the end of the set, Minas held on to win 25-21 and secure their place in the final.
Honorato was the highlight for Minas with 17 points, Marcus with 15 and Vissotto with 14. For Suzano, Sabino was the game’s top scorer with 23 points and Daniel Oliveira also impressed with 17 points.
Minas had already won the first game of the semi-final series 3 sets to 0 in Belo Horizonte, which meant they qualified for the final with a 100% record in the semi-finals. The team was runner-up in the last two editions of the Superliga, losing to Vôlei Taubaté in 2020/21 and Sada Cruzeiro in 2021/22. They will now face either Farma Conde São José or Sada Cruzeiro in the final. In the first match, Sadа won on its home court – 3:2.
The final promises to be exciting, with Minas seeking their first Superliga title since 2002. The team has been in excellent form this season and believes it has a chance of lifting the trophy this year. The Superliga final is scheduled for a few weeks from now, but the exact date has not yet been confirmed.
