El Nacional reports that, despite PSG’s desire to part with him, Neymar Jr, the star of the Parisian team, has no plans to leave the French capital.
Neymar’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain for a world record €222 million in 2017 created a huge impact in the world of soccer. However, both Neymar and the French club faced numerous challenges during his time there. Neymar’s time at PSG has been marked by several injuries, including the recent ankle injury, which is just one of many unfortunate setbacks he has experienced.
Due to his latest injury, Neymar won’t be able to play for the rest of the season, which adds up to an astonishing 100 games he’s missed since joining Ligue 1. His repeated injuries and inability to help PSG win their first UEFA Champions League trophy have caused tensions in Paris.
According to the Opta analyst, by the end of 2022-23, Neymar will have played just 48% of the possible Ligue 1 minutes for PSG since joining in 2017-18. The highest proportion of league minutes played in a single season by Neymar during this period occurred in 2021-22 (54.4%).
Luis Campos, the transfer specialist, Christophe Galtier, the manager, and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president, are working together to renew the club through the transfer market. However, Neymar doesn’t seem to fit into their long-term plans and the intention is to sell him. But there could be a complication, as Neymar himself is unwilling to leave the club.
The report suggests that the Brazilian striker plans to end his season at the Parc des Princes. Whether or not PSG will change their plans is uncertain. However, according to reports, if they succeed, Neymar may have to start looking for a new team during next summer.
