The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) has decided to postpone the first leg of the Superliga semi-final between Sada Cruzeiro and Farma Conde Vôlei SJC, which was scheduled for April 15. The decision was taken after conflicting decisions by the Ethics Council of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the STJD regarding the playing condition of the Sada Cruzeiro player.
The CBV decided to refer the matter to the Brazilian Center for Mediation and Arbitration (CBMA), an arbitration body with the authority to deal with such disputes. The organization’s note regrets the damage caused to all those involved in the event, including clubs, players, fans, sponsors and the broadcaster holding the broadcasting rights. However, he believed that postponing the match was the best solution, given the current situation.
The new dates for the match between Sada Cruzeiro and Farma Conde Vôlei SJC have been announced. The first stage of the semi-final will now take place on April 19 at the Riacho gymnasium in Contagem (MG). The second round will be held on April 22 at the Farma Conde Arena in São José (SP), while the third round, if necessary, will be held on April 24 in Contagem (MG). All matches will be broadcast on Sportv 2.
The situation surrounding Wallace has caused a lot of uncertainty and speculation about his playing condition. Some media reports suggest that he may have tested positive for a banned substance, while others claim that he is involved in a dispute with the Brazilian Olympic Committee over his selection for the Tokyo Olympics. The CBV’s decision to postpone the match only added to the confusion and left the two clubs and their fans in limbo.
The Superliga is one of the most prestigious volleyball competitions in Brazil and attracts some of the best players in the country. The tournament has been very competitive this year, with some of the matches being played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The delay in the semi-final will undoubtedly be a disappointment for fans, but the CBV hopes that the matter will be resolved quickly and the competition can go ahead as planned.
