Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti refused to comment on his imminent next assignment as coach of the Brazilian national team, saying that he will only make the decision after his contract with his current team expires. Ancelotti’s contract with the Santiago Bernabéu runs until the end of next season, when he will decide to leave the club, if the reports are true.
Ancelotti was increasingly linked with the job of national team coach after veteran coach Tite resigned following the team’s elimination from the World Cup. The position has still not been filled, more than eight months after the end of the World Cup. In June, several leading journalists and media outlets reported that Ancelotti had agreed to become Brazil’s next coach.
Ancelotti has remained silent on the matter in the public domain, stating that he remains committed to his contract with Real Madrid and will resolve the issue in the near future. Since his triumphant return to Madrid, the Italian has achieved remarkable success, securing victories in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League during his tenure.
Neymar, one of the most experienced players in the Seleção squad, also expressed his incredible admiration for Ancelotti, hailing him as an “incredible coach”. Several other players in the team, including Juventus veteran Danilo, have also made statements that seem to reinforce the idea that there is an agreement between the parties.
“Brazil, I’m never going to talk about it or what might happen. I’m under contract with Real Madrid CF and I intend to fulfill the obligations that come with my contract. I’d rather the media didn’t ask me that question, but in any case, I won’t return to it until June 30, 2024” said Ancelotti.
Real Madrid have made some excellent signings this summer, including Jude Bellingham, and are linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe as they aim to regain the La Liga title.
