Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have taken the unexpected decision to put Kylian Mbappé up for sale, adding to the uncertainty over the talented French striker’s future. The club left him out of their squad for the pre-season tour of Japan, signaling a possible split from the 24-year-old soccer sensation.
The saga began last month when Mbappé informed PSG that he would not be exercising his one-year contract extension option next summer. He has expressed his intention to stay in Paris until the end of his contract and then leave on a free transfer. However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made it clear that the club wanted Mbappé to sign a contract extension or consider moving elsewhere. The club felt betrayed, as they believed the player had already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Despite the contract situation, any club interested in acquiring Mbappé will have to be prepared to pay an astronomical fee that only a few elite teams can afford. Notably, English Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the player in the past, but it seems that Real Madrid remains the most likely destination. Mbappé has long been admired by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, and the player himself has spoken openly about the idea of joining the Spanish giants.
The situation has become increasingly controversial, with PSG allegedly adding Mbappé to their transfer list. The club is now willing to receive offers from other clubs and may consider selling him for less than the 155 million pounds it originally paid for him.
With tensions running high, Mbappé has yet to respond to PSG’s demands for a solution. However, he did play in a friendly against Le Havre, scoring a goal in a 2-0 win. Meanwhile, his 16-year-old brother Ethan has been included in the touring team for the pre-season games in Japan.
French sports outlet L’Equipe has claimed that PSG believe Mbappé has an agreement to join Real Madrid, fueling further speculation about his future. The situation remains fluid, and PSG are keen to avoid being paralyzed by Mbappé’s uncertain contract situation.
Although Mbappé’s possible departure may upset PSG fans, the club is determined to resolve the situation and focus on pre-season preparations in Japan. The club is scheduled to play Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, Cerezo Osaka, Inter Milan and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.
The next few days are likely to be crucial in determining the outcome of this high-profile transfer saga, and soccer enthusiasts around the world will be keeping a close eye on events surrounding one of the sport’s most talented and sought-after players.
