The Kylian Mbappé soap opera continues, as the French striker delivers a brutal critique of his club, claiming that they “don’t help” in his ambitions to win the Ballon d’Or. The 24-year-old branded Paris Saint-Germain as ‘divisive’ and allegedly angered six of his teammates with his explosive interview, after which the PSG players complained to president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
During a recent interview with France Football magazine, Mbappé, who is strongly linked with Real Madrid, criticized the Ligue 1 giants for failing to win the Champions League. With his contract set to expire next season, Kylian has told PSG that he will not renew and so the Parisians have given him an ultimatum: he must sign a new contract or he will be sold this summer.
PSG do not want to allow Mbappé to enter the last 12 months of his contract and therefore leave for nothing. During the presentation of new coach Luis Enrique, Al-Khelaifi said that it would be “impossible” to allow the best player in the world to leave for nothing.
The Frenchman took another shot at the club when the war became public, criticizing them for their repeated failures in the Champions League.
“We did what we could. You have to talk to the people who make the team, who organize the squad, who build this club“, said Mbappé, according to the report, when asked about the last elimination against Bayern Munich in the round of 16.
The 2018 World Cup winner angered some of his teammates with his latest speech, with as many as six PSG players expressing their displeasure with Al-Khelaifi, two of them being new signings.
“Kylian should decide in a week or two at the most. If he doesn’t sign a new contract, we’ll sell him. Not negotiable” said the PSG supremo last week. Only Real Madrid remain in the race to sign the Frenchman if he wants to leave this season, and a deal could cost more than €200 million.
