In the co-main event of UFC 290 at the T-Arena in Las Vegas, Alexandre Pantoja demonstrated his dominance over Brandon Moreno by securing the UFC flyweight title via a split decision victory. With the win, Pantoja extended his unbeaten run against Moreno to 3-0.
Pantoja’s dexterity was crucial once again, allowing him to control Moreno’s frenetic attack effectively. While one judge scored the fight in Moreno’s favor with a score of 49-46, the other two judges recognized Pantoja’s control, resulting in a 48-47 victory for the new champion. The fight was hotly contested, raising the possibility of a rematch in the future. However, Pantoja currently reigns as the new flyweight king.

During the preliminary card of UFC 290, the fight between Jauregui and Gomes ended as quickly as it began, leaving the crowd silent. Jauregui fired from her corner, but was immediately met by a right cross from Gomes. Before she could recover Gomes quickly followed up with an overhand right that took Jauregui to the ground.
Pinned against the fence, Jauregui tried to regain her composure, but Gomes relentlessly unleashed a torrent of punches. Referee Jason Herzog intervened just 20 seconds into the fight, deeming it necessary to stop the fight, giving Gomes the fastest finish in the history of the strawweight division.
