According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to reject Bayern Munich’s latest offer for Harry Kane. The German champions increased their offer to €80 million (£68.5 million) after an initial bid of €70 million, but it seems unlikely to sway Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
The situation between Kane and Spurs is tense, as the striker, who has another year left on his contract, has made it clear that he will not sign a new deal while the transfer window is open. Although Tottenham have presented Kane with improved contract terms, including a significant increase on his current £200,000-a-week salary, the 28-year-old striker wants to assess his options on the market.
Although Kane has not ruled out signing a new contract with Tottenham, his preference seems to be to leave the club this summer or become a free agent next year. However, if Spurs show promising improvements under coach Ange Postecoglou, Kane may reconsider his options.
Bayern Munich is an attractive proposition for Kane, as it would offer him the chance to win silverware for the team, a feat he has yet to achieve in his career.
In other transfer news, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is willing to take a pay cut to secure a permanent move to Inter Milan. The Belgian striker is prepared to reduce his salary by almost £1 million a year to stay at the Serie A club. Inter are hoping to make an offer worth £35 million, but may need to sell players to raise funds for the transfer, including ongoing negotiations with Manchester United over goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have not found a satisfactory solution with Inter Milan, and discussions are ongoing to reach an agreement. Lukaku has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal and there have also been talks between Juventus and Chelsea about a possible deal.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his desire to hold talks with Lukaku in London if the striker remains a Chelsea player. Chelsea are expecting a £40 million transfer fee for Lukaku and have rejected an offer from Inter Milan.
In addition, Chelsea want to keep Levi Colwill and are looking to secure a new contract for the talented defender. Colwill impressed during his loan spell at Brighton last season, as well as his performances for the England Under-21 side this summer, culminating in their European Championship final win over Spain on Saturday. Brighton are keen to sign Colwill on a permanent deal, but Chelsea have rejected their advances.
