The Golden State Warriors have officially signed a contract with young prospect Brandin Podziemski, sparking excitement among fans. Although only the first two years of the contract are guaranteed, Podziemski could earn $16.2 million over the course of his time with the organization.
Podziemski’s signing was announced earlier this week when the Warriors selected him as Santa Clara’s 19th overall pick in the first round. Podziemski’s time at Santa Clara highlighted his extraordinary ability, with figures such as 19.9 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. Notably, his three-point shooting ability shone through with a success percentage of 43.8%, placing him fifth in the country. This excellent skill complements the Warriors’ famous style of play.
Podziemski’s dominance in the WCC cannot be overlooked, despite missing out on the WCC Conference Championship. He led the league in rebounds, was third in scoring, fourth in assists and led the conference in double-doubles with 13. With around 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, he was ranked among the top three players in NCAA Division I.
With the Golden State Warriors, Podziemski will be able to hone his impressive three-point shooting skills and improve his game even further. The 1.95m playmaker is a versatile scorer who can shine from beyond the arc and generate his own shot. However, Podziemski’s defense is still a work in progress. Improving his lateral agility and perimeter defense will be key to his success in the highly competitive NBA.
Although Podziemski is still considered a raw talent, his potential as a consistent NBA player is apparent. He has the tools to thrive in the league thanks to his exceptional throwing and passing ability, as well as a solid work ethic. As a young player, Podziemski has a lot of potential to develop and correct his deficiencies. If he continues to work hard and improve his game, the NBA could see the birth of a strong player in Podziemski, who will make important contributions as a vital player for the Golden State Warriors.
