At the age of 34, Willian’s journey in soccer took an unexpected turn when he signed a contract with Fulham. The Brazilian maestro, who seemed to have reached the end of his career in Europe, made a surprising move to Craven Cottage and showed his skills with five goals and six assists in the 2022-23 Premier League season. Despite Fulham’s mid-table finish, Willian’s performances stood out, earning him admiration and respect.
Following his departure from Corinthians, the former Chelsea and Arsenal player made a triumphant return to England, signing a one-year contract with the London club. However, his exceptional performance prompted Fulham to offer him a contract extension. According to reliable reports, the London club have offered the Brazilian a one-year extension with a salary of 50,000 pounds a week.
Staying in London would be a logical choice for Willian, as the city has been a familiar home for him for many years. It was here that he rediscovered his form and had a personally successful campaign with Fulham. However, it seems that the experienced striker has attracted interest from other European clubs and even Saudi Arabia, which suggests that he has several options to consider.
Willian has established himself as a Premier League veteran, especially during his time at Chelsea. He shone under José Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri, before leaving for the Emirates in 2020. He had a disappointing spell at Arsenal, before moving to Corinthians just a year later. In 2022, he returned to the Premier League, and with reasonable success. He spoke about his time at Fulham and expressed his ambition to continue the good work.
“Throughout the season I’ve been doing very well, regardless of the goals I’ve been producing a lot for the team, playing well, creating moves, passing goals. That game was a reflection of what has been happening this season with me and the team, playing good games and always improving.“
