The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced that the draw to determine the home team for the Copa do Brasil final between Flamengo and São Paulo will be held next Monday, August 28, at 2pm (Brasília time) at the CBF headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. The event will be attended by the club presidents, coaches Jorge Sampaoli and Dorival Júnior, as well as a player representing each team.
Flamengo secured their place in the final by beating Gremio in both games, with a 2-0 win in the first leg and a 1-0 victory at the Maracanã in the second leg. São Paulo’s journey to the final involved a comeback in Morumbi, overcoming a 2-1 deficit in the first leg against Corinthians at the Arena Neo Química.
The finals are scheduled for September 17 and 24, with the peculiarity of being held on Sundays, unlike previous editions.
Flamengo, an experienced competitor, are bidding for their fifth Copa do Brasil title, aiming to add to their rich history in the competition. On the other side, São Paulo are looking for their first win of the season and are determined to make their mark. The stakes are high, with the winner of the championship receiving an impressive prize of R$70 million, while the runner-up will receive R$30 million.
While anticipation for the final is growing, Flamengo are concentrating on the Brazilian Championship match against Internacional. The match is scheduled for Saturday, August 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Maracanã.
