With the transfer window due to close in three weeks’ time, there is still a lot of speculation about Neymar’s future at Paris Saint Germain. Although the player himself has recently stated his desire to remain in the French capital, L’Equipe recently claimed that the Brazilian has informed PSG officials of his desire to leave the club and join Barcelona.
Many other media outlets even reported that Barcelona had turned down the chance to sign Neymar, while the two clubs were negotiating a deal for Ousmane Dembele, who is currently in Paris but has been waiting for his medical to be completed due to the delay in his home club’s paperwork.
Neymar’s father, however, denied any rumors that the player is thinking of leaving, calling the L’Equipe story “fake news”.
PL Brasil published quotes from Neymar’s father saying:“I can’t confirm news that hasn’t happened“.
There have long been rumors that the 31-year-old wants to return to Barcelona, but Neymar recently clarified his position in public, stating that he plans to remain at PSG “with or without” the love of the fans.
Last season, angry club fans gathered outside Neymar’s house demanding that the player leave the club.
“I hope to play for PSG this season, I have a contract with Paris. So far, no one has told me anything“, Neymar told CazeTV. “I’m calm, even if there isn’t much love between the fans and the player. I’ll be there with or without love” he added.
PSG, for their part, are making many important moves in the summer window, having signed some big names such as Marco Asensio and Manuel Ugarte, among others, and are close to concluding a deal for Dembele, having activated the Frenchman’s release clause of 50 million euros.
Luis Enrique’s side also confirmed the signing of striker Gonçalo Ramos from Benfica in a deal worth 80 million euros, 65 million euros fixed fee and 15 million euros in add-ons. According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, it will be a loan transfer with an obligation to buy in 2024 due to Financial Fair Play issues.
After Ramos’s revelation, President Nasser Al Khelaifi said: “Gonçalo, a fantastic international player, young, hungry and fighting for the team. It’s these types of players who are the future of our great institution.“
On the other hand, PSG remain interested in Manchester City‘s Bernardo Silva, but the Premier League side have sent a message of non-involvement to the Ligue 1 club.
Barcelona are also interested in the Portuguese player, but City remain confident of getting an extension to Silva’s contract.
On the other side of Manchester, after signing Rasmus Hojlund, the club will focus on Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and French talent Jean-Clair Todibo.
However, Manchester United want to get rid of some inactive players and are trying to negotiate several exits. Talks are underway with Nottingham Forest to buy Dean Henderson, and West Ham have tabled a double bid for Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
Donny van de Beek is expected to go to Real Sociedad on loan, while Brazilian midfielder Fred is expected to leave Old Trafford on a permanent deal, as several clubs are interested.
Bayern Munich‘s third offer for Tottenham star striker Harry Kane has been rejected by Spurs. The Bavarians will probably hold an internal meeting to decide how to proceed with the transfer.
The Bundesliga giants are also still interested in Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and Ajax goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli to replace Yann Sommer, who was presented as a new Inter Milan player on Monday.
