Manchester United are still hoping to land England captain Harry Kane, even if Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to part with their talismanic striker. After Bayern Munich’s initial offer of 70 million euros was rejected by Spurs, United are also hoping to test Daniel Levy’s resolve. The tricky part is that the two clubs still have a £20 million difference over the player’s valuation, and that’s where Manchester United hit a snag.
According to the Sun, Kane is valued at £80 million, but Spurs are waiting for a fee of £100 million before even thinking about selling their most valuable asset, and that’s where Fred could come to United’s rescue. Erik ten Hag’s side have put a £20 million price tag on Fred and are trying to sell the Brazilian midfielder to generate funds to get Kane. The Old Trafford club is working to a strict budget and the owners, the Glazer family, are still considering selling the club.
United are also in negotiations with Chelsea to sign Mason Mount, but the two clubs are once again far apart in terms of player valuation and, so far, Ten Hag has not secured any major signings for the summer.
Speaking of Kane, the England captain has just one year left on his current contract and so interested parties aren’t too sure about spending 100 million pounds on a player who turns 30 next month.
However, both United and Bayern remain interested, and Manchester United are looking to part with Fred, who was signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018. He was initially linked with Manchester City before United diverted the transfer, although the Brazilian didn’t live up to expectations during his time there, even though he had his share of highs.
With a price tag of 52 million pounds proving a heavy burden to justify, Fred never managed to establish himself in José Mourinho or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team, and even Ten Hag preferred Casemiro to his countryman. His current contract is set to expire next season.
