The long-running soap opera between Flamengo and striker Marinho has finally come to an end. On Monday (19), both parties reached a consensus and mutually agreed to terminate the contract, putting an end to the tense situation. With the official departure of the red-black team, Marinho is now preparing to join Fortaleza.
After a long period of uncertainty and exchanges of verbal aggression, Flamengo and Marinho have finally put an end to the dispute. As part of the contract termination agreement, the player will receive several severance payments, including June’s salary, severance pay, 13th salary, proportional vacation pay and a 20% FGTS (Severance Indemnity Fund) fine.
The conflict between Marinho and Flamengo had arisen at the end of May, when the striker refused to travel with the team to Chile for a Libertadores match against Ñublense. Since then, the situation has been characterized by fines, withdrawals and out-of-court notices, prolonging the uncertainty over Marinho’s future at the club. However, after almost a month, the issue has finally been resolved and the player is ready to start a new chapter in his career at Fortaleza.
During his time at Flamengo, Marinho made 60 appearances, scoring six goals and providing nine assists. His time at the club also saw him win two important titles: the Copa Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil. With Marinho’s farewell from Flamengo, both the player and the club can now concentrate on their respective paths.
