German media outlet Kicker (via FourFourTwo) reports that Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel is eyeing Manchester United’s Casemiro as one of his main transfer targets for the upcoming summer window. Tuchel is keen to strengthen his team’s leadership qualities, and the signing of the Brazilian midfielder is considered ideal for Bayern’s unstable dressing room.
Bayern Munich, recovering from their Champions League defeat to Manchester City, are looking for a new midfielder to partner Joshua Kimmich. Casemiro is seen as a critical addition to strengthen their defensive line, despite his value to the English club and the potential cost of signing him.
As the Bundesliga season draws to a close, Bayern Munich are just one point behind leaders Borussia Dortmund. With just five games remaining, the club’s hopes of silverware this year depend entirely on winning the league title. Thomas Tuchel’s appointment at the beginning of April didn’t produce the desired results, as Bayern were eliminated from European competition and the DFB-Pokal.
Last summer, Manchester United paid 70 million pounds to acquire Casemiro, who has since proved to be an essential player in Erik ten Hag’s team. The Brazilian midfielder made significant contributions to United’s Carabao Cup win in February and the FA Cup final, keeping the club in contention for the Champions League qualification places.
The Brazilian began his career with São Paulo (2010-2013). At the age of 21 he moved to Real Madrid, where he spent nine seasons. Moved to Manchester United in August 2022 for € 60 million (+ 10 million in bonuses)
