Fortaleza FC have made it clear that they will not accept the return of goalkeeper Felipe Alves, who was on loan at São Paulo FC. The decision was made after Fortaleza coach Dorival Júnior confirmed in a post-match press conference that Felipe Alves would no longer be wearing the São Paulo shirt.
Speculation about Felipe Alves’ future arose because the goalkeeper hadn’t been called up for São Paulo’s matches since November. Dorival Júnior said that the decision to recall the goalkeeper was taken by the Fortaleza board. While guaranteeing that Felipe Alves will be respected as a professional, the coach made it clear that he will no longer be part of the São Paulo team and will undergo a process of change within the club.
The loan agreement between São Paulo and Fortaleza was initially scheduled to run until the end of the current season. However, São Paulo expressed their desire to terminate the loan early, which Fortaleza did not accept. The club claimed that there was no contractual clause obliging Felipe Alves to return and cited his previous relationship with former coach Pablo Vojvoda as a contributing factor to his loan spells at Juventude and then São Paulo.
Fortaleza’s decision not to accept Felipe Alves’ return has left the goalkeeper’s future uncertain. As the situation unfolds, fans and soccer experts are eagerly awaiting further developments regarding the next step in his career.
