In their first game after Lionel Messi’s suspension, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) put in a convincing performance to beat Troyes 3-1 in Ligue 1. The visitors dominated the entire match, with Kylian Mbappe playing a key role in the victory, scoring the opening goal in the eighth minute. Mbappe’s goal was fortuitous, as his header came after the ball deflected off the crossbar following a cross from Vitinha.
Despite a heroic performance from Troyes goalkeeper Gauthier Gallon, PSG continued to create chances and Vitinha doubled the lead in the 59th minute. The Portuguese midfielder headed Marco Verratti’s pass, which Gallon deflected to him, and the ball hit the net.
Troyes managed to pull one back through Xavier Chavalerin in the 83rd minute, but PSG quickly restored their two-goal lead three minutes later, with Fabian Ruiz scoring with his left foot into the top corner after the ball rebounded off Mbappe’s shot.
With the win, PSG moved to within seven points of securing their 11th French title with four games left to play.
According to Vitinha, who scored Paris Saint-Germain’s second goal in the 3-1 win over Troyes, the match was challenging due to the opponent’s well-organized tactics. However, PSG managed to create enough chances to score, and that’s exactly what they did. The win was crucial for the Parisians, and Vitinha acknowledged its importance, saying that winning the game was a vital result.
The Portuguese midfielder also praised the team’s performance and their ability to overcome the difficulties imposed by their opponents. Despite not having Lionel Messi available and Neymar being injured, PSG’s attacking trio, led by Kylian Mbappe, proved too much for Troyes.
Mbappe posted on Instagram after the match:
“A little closer…”
as PSG move closer to another Ligue 1 title.
