Grant-Williams, the excellent forward for the Boston-Celtics, recently underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left hand. Williams, 24, will not be able to take part in any basketball-related activities for around two months while he recovers from the procedure.
According to the Celtics’ medical team, the recovery time after surgery should be between 6 and 8 weeks. Williams will have to wait patiently before returning to the court and joining her colleagues.
Williams had a fantastic regular season, averaging minutes played (25.9), points (8.1) and rebounds (4.6). However, his stats dropped in the playoffs as he failed to maintain a stable role in the rotation.
The fact that Williams is a restricted free agent this summer makes things even more perplexing. This means that the Celtics are free to match any offer made to them by another club. Despite his limited playing time this season, Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens expressed confidence in Williams’ quality and noted that the team’s depth affected the allocation of playing time.
“He’s a good athlete who was part of a very strong team“said Stevens. With the addition of (Malcolm) Brogdon last year, it was inevitable that people who had earned more chances wouldn’t get as many. That certainly had an impact on some of our players. But everyone in the league knows that Grant can help any team”.
The Celtics selected Grant Dean Williams, an American professional basketball player, 22nd overall in the 2019 NBA lottery. Williams, who is 6’4″ and plays as a pivot, is known for his versatility on both sides of the pitch. His skill set includes shooting accuracy from beyond the arc, defensive brilliance at various points and great talent for rebounding and passing.
Williams established himself as a stable player in his first three seasons in the NBA, averaging 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He has an incredible 45.4% field goal percentage and a 39.5% three-point shooting percentage.
Williams is expected to play a crucial role in the Celtics’ future success as an essential member of the team’s young core. Although his recovery process may keep him out for a few months, fans are eager for him to return to play and contribute on the pitch.
