The Florida Cup returns to action with another mouth-watering set of matches, including a big clash between two European titans, with 14-time Champions League winners Real Madrid taking on Italian giants Juventus in the main event. Several Brazilian talents will be involved in the game, as Real Madrid have players such as Rodrygo, Eder Militão and the sensational Vinicius Jr. in their ranks. Juventus, meanwhile, will rely on veterans Danilo and Alex Sandro, as well as midfielder Gleisson Bremer. It’s interesting to note that all six of these Brazilians were part of the national team that took part in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the Seleção reached the quarter-finals, before being beaten by Croatia.
In addition, there will be another engaging friendly match between Premier League side Chelsea and Welsh club Wales, who have been the center of attention for their extremely successful journey to the top divisions of Welsh soccer. The club is owned by famous actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Wrexham have managed to convince rugged goalkeeper Ben Foster to come out of retirement to sign for the club, and are linked with a similar deal with Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale.
Ricardo Vilar, CEO of the company responsible for organizing the tournament, hoped that the Florida Cup would lead to the growth of the sport in the USA and added that they expected a large audience for this year’s event, scheduled for August.
“2023 is the year of consolidation for the expansion of the Florida Cup in the United States, where, working with strategic partners, we seek to take relevant games to different American cities, such as Chapel Hill, which this year will host a soccer match for the first time. Of course, we’ll end this tournament with a great European derby in Orlando, where we’re expecting a big crowd to watch Real Madrid take on Juventus.“
