The 2022-23 season isn’t over yet, but clubs are already starting to prepare for the next stage. While the soccer world anxiously awaits the opening of the transfer window, there are already some big moves on the market. With rumors swirling and negotiations in full swing, let’s take a look at the news about changes.
Lionel Messi joins Inter Miami
Lionel Messi has confirmed that he will join MLS side Inter Miami CF following his departure from PSG. Although the deal has not yet been finalized, the MLS has confirmed the proposed transfer. Despite links to a return to Barcelona and interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, Messi opted to join Inter Miami, whose partner is David Beckham. Reflecting on his decision, Messi expressed his desire to experience soccer in a different way and enjoy a more relaxed daily routine. This long-awaited switch represents a significant milestone for the MLS and is set to become one of the biggest signings in the league’s history.
Real Madrid are on the verge of acquiring Jude Bellingham from Dortmund
Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jude Bellingham for an initial fee of 103 million euros, the Bundesliga club has announced. The value of the deal is around 100 million euros, plus a further 20 million euros in add-ons. Madrid emerged victorious in the race to sign Bellingham, beating off competition from Manchester City and Liverpool. Bellingham will join the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni as Real Madrid strengthen their midfield options.
Sheikh submits fifth bid to take over Manchester United
Sheikh Jassim of Qatar has made a fifth and final offer to take over Manchester United, asking the Glazer family to respond by Friday. The improved offer was presented to the Raine Group, the American bank that represents the Glazers. Sheikh Jassim expressed his frustration at the Glazers’ lack of progress. The Qatari consortium is looking for a quick solution to take control of the club before the summer transfer window opens. Along with Sheikh Jassim’s offer, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe also made an offer, allowing the Glazers’ co-chairmen to retain ownership.
Saudi Arabia continues to grow
In other news, the Saudis continue to offer big contracts to European footballers. In the latest saga, after getting Benzema over the line, the Saudis reportedly struck a deal with Chelsea’s World Cup-winning star N’golo Kante. Kante will earn an incredible 200 million euros (£172.1 million/$213.8 million) over two years at Al-Ittihad. As well as Kante, there have been offers for superstars such as Riyad Mahrez, Alexis Sanchez and Wilfred Zaha.
