Goiás beat Botafogo 2-1
Botafogo’s winning streak came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Goiás on Sunday.
Tiquinho Soares opened the scoring for Botafogo in the 30th minute with a goal from the penalty spot. But Goiás kept the visitors honest and pressed forward in search of an equalizer. The hosts equalized just before half-time with a goal from Bruno Melo (45’+7′) in extra time.
In the second half, Maguinho scored for Goiás in the 57th minute. In the last quarter of an hour of the game, Botafogo tried to maintain their 100% record, but ultimately failed. Despite the defeat, Botafogo remain top of the standings with 15 points, while Goiás climb to 15th place with six points. Botafogo will be looking to bounce back when they face Athletico-PR in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday.
Corinthians and São Paulo draw 1-1
In a much-anticipated match, São Paulo took the lead with a goal from Michel Araújo in the 16th minute, after receiving an assist from captain Rafinha. Corinthians pressed for an equalizer and were awarded a penalty just before the break, which Róger Guedes (45’+6′) converted in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
In the second half, neither team managed a shot on goal, but São Paulo had the lion’s share of possession, with 71%, while the hosts tried to hit on the counter-attack. Neither team managed to score, and the game ended 1-1.
The result leaves Corinthians in 17th place with 5 points, while São Paulo are in 10th with 9 points.
Grêmio and Fortaleza draw 0-0

Cruzeiro put in a dominant performance against América-MG in a 4-0 win during their Serie A match on Sunday.

The win moves Cruzeiro up to 4th place in the Serie A table, with 12 points from six games. América-MG, meanwhile, suffered their fifth defeat in six games and are currently in 20th place in the league standings.

Athletico-PR beat Coritiba 3-2 in a thrilling Paraná derby on Sunday at the Arena da Baixada.
