Coach Luís Castro expressed his frustration after Botafogo’s unbeaten run in the
Botafogo’s unbeaten run in the Brazilian Championship came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Goiás on Sunday night.
. At a press conference in Serrinha, Castro highlighted the team’s attitude in the competition so far and praised the support of the Glorioso board. He admitted that losing is always a difficult time for teams, but stressed that defeat doesn’t change expectations for the championship.
Castro acknowledged that the team had a good start, but lost their way during the match. He pointed out that Goiás gained confidence in the second half, while Botafogo lacked lucidity and were unstable. Despite having numerous chances to score, the team couldn’t get their shots on target. However, Castro congratulated Goiás on their victory and accepted the result.
As for the future, Castro stressed that each game has its own specificities and that the defeat to Goiás has nothing to do with the next Copa do Brasil match against Athletico-PR. He emphasized that the team is working hard to achieve victories and has a very united group that isn’t rattled by anything.
Despite the defeat, Botafogo remain top with 15 points and return to the field on Wednesday to face Athletico-PR at the Arena da Baixada. The team are looking to bounce back and maintain their good run in the league.
