Arteta remains optimistic about Arsenal’s title chances despite Manchester City’s lead.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes his side can still win the Premier League title, despite falling behind Manchester City in the race. The Gunners were beaten 4-1 by City in their last match, and City now have a 10-point lead over Arsenal with just five games left to play. Despite this, Arteta is confident that his team can still achieve their goal.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea on Tuesday, Arteta said: “We have the best part of the season ahead of us and we still believe we can win the title. We need to concentrate on winning our remaining games and leave the rest to City“.
Arteta acknowledged that the situation is not entirely in their hands now, but stressed the importance of winning every game.“We still have the fire in our belly and we won’t give up until the end,” he said.
The Gunners’ place in next season’s Champions League was confirmed on Wednesday after Brighton’s defeat to Nottingham Forest. Arteta expressed his pride and gratitude to everyone who had contributed to bringing Champions League soccer back to the club. However, he emphasized that the club wants more than just a place in the Champions League.
“We’re happy to be back in the Champions League, but that’s not enough. We want to win trophies and be at the top of the league” said Arteta.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard acknowledged the progress Arsenal have made under Arteta this season and praised the club’s patience with the Spaniard. Lampard believes that the process of getting to where they want to be takes time and good decisions.
Arsenal will be without French defender William Saliba against Chelsea due to a back injury. Meanwhile, Chelsea will have strikers Kai Havertz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Fofana fit and available for Tuesday’s game.
