The Catalans are ready to proceed with the sale of Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie, as they try to sign Sofyan Amrabat from AFC Fiorentina.
Kessie has been dissatisfied with the club in recent months due to a lack of playing time. After leaving reigning Italian champions AC Milan on a free transfer to join the Catalans, he was expected to step straight into the starting line-up in place of club legend Sergio Busquets.
However, Kessie spent most of his time on the bench, with coach Xavi Hernández preferring the experience of Busquets’ winner.
A sale is expected to be the best option for both parties, which could result, according to speculation, in the Ivorian’s transfer to Tottenham in England.
Although he didn’t make it big at Barça, 26-year-old Kessie was the main player in Milan’s midfield towards the end of his time at the club. He was also the Italians’ official penalty taker, with an above-average record.
If the arrival of Moroccan Amrabat is confirmed, Kessie’s departure should come to fruition.
Morocco’s Amrabat had an outstanding performance at the World Cup, when his team exceeded all expectations by reaching the semi-finals of the tournament. Amrabat was tireless in midfield, contributing a lot to Morocco’s solid defense.
