After dropping points in midweek, Real Madrid and Barcelona returned to winning ways on matchday 32 of La Liga. The league leaders scored four goals to Real Betis’ ten as Carlo Ancelotti’s side beat Almeria 4-2 thanks to Karim Benzema’s first-half hat-trick.
Real Madrid are 11 points behind Barça and, with six games still to play, the La Liga title is being fiercely contested, although Xavi’s men have a good lead over the reigning champions.
Barcelona beat o Real Betis 4-0recovering from midweek defeat
Xavi’s side returned to winning ways with a 4-0 victory over Real Betis at the Camp Nou. The scoreline could have been much worse had it not been for Lewandowski’s slow finish combined with some good saves from Rui Silva.
Andreas Christensen opened the scoring thanks to a classic header before goals from Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha ensured that Barça ended the first half 3-0 up against the ten men of Betis, after Edgar Gonzalez was given his marching orders following a foul on Pedri.
An own goal from Guido Rodriguez secured the three points before Xavi gave a debut to Lamine Yamal, who became the youngest player to play in La Liga at the age of 15.
Real Madrid take advantage of Karim Benzema’s hat-trick to beat Almeria 4-2
A first-half hat-trick from Karim Benzema and impressive performances from Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes sealed an emphatic 4-2 win for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s side took a three-goal lead in the first half, with Vinícius and Rodrygo each assisting Benzema, before he wrapped up the three points with a penalty. Lázaro scored in first-half stoppage time.
Almeria then attacked Real Madrid in the second half to almost find a way back into the game, before Rodrygo’s strike from outside the area killed off any hopes of a comeback.
In other games on Saturday night, Osasuna were beaten 0-2 at home by Real Sociedad, while relegation-threatened Elche beat Rayo Vallecano 4-0 to claim only their third win of the season.
