Bahia beat Volta Redonda in the Copa do Brasil
Bahia produced a dominant display in the second leg of their Copa do Brasil tie against Volta Redonda, winning 4-0 at the Fonte Nova Arena. In the first away game, Bahia won 2-1, but in the home game, after the break, the score was 0-0. It wasn’t until the 57th minute that Cauly managed to open his account. Arthur Sales then scored two more goals in the 68th and extra time, while Vitor Jacaré converted a penalty in the 76th minute to seal the win. With the result, Bahia advance to the next round with an aggregate score of 6-1, much to the delight of their fans.
Ypiranga is defeated by Botafogo and the Rio de Janeiro club advances in the Copa do Brasil
Botafogo comfortably booked their passage to the next round of the Copa do Brasil with a 2-0 win over Ypiranga in the second leg of the knockout stage. Matheus Nascimento scored early on to set the tone for Botafogo, who dominated much of the match. Ypiranga responded little and Janderson scored Botafogo’s second goal late on. The match ended sourly for Ypiranga, with Mossoró receiving a red card in injury time. The result means that Botafogo won the match 4-0 on aggregate, advancing in style to the next stage of the competition.
Internacional beat CSA on penalties
CSA won a thrilling 2-1 victory over Internacional in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3. Tomás opened the scoring for CSA just before half-time, but Internacional responded with a penalty from Alan Patrick in the 64th minute. The game seemed destined for a draw and Internacional’s qualification on aggregate, until Thiago Fernandes scored the winning goal for CSA in the 82nd minute. With the aggregate score tied, the match went to penalties. Internacional, the team from Rio Grande do Sul, won 7-6 and progressed to the next stage of the competition.
Everton’s late goal sees Grêmio through to the next round of the Copa do Brasil
Grêmio secured their passage to the next round of the Copa do Brasil after a 1-1 draw with ABC. Matheus Aleksander dos Anjos put ABC ahead in the 21st minute, giving the visitors hope of overturning the 2-0 deficit from the first leg. Despite a dominant performance, Gremio struggled to find an equalizer until the final moments of the game, when Everton scored in stoppage time to secure a 1-1 draw. With the first leg ending 2-0 in their favor, Gremio advanced to the next round with a 3-1 aggregate win. It was a frustrating night for Gremio, but they got the job done in the end to move on in the competition.
