As Conor McGregor prepares for his long-awaited return to the octagon, several top fighters are vying for the chance to face the superstar, with Max Holloway being the latest addition to the list. After suffering a career-threatening leg fracture in his last fight, many believed that ‘The Notorious’ would never compete in the UFC again.
However, after a two-year hiatus, the former champion has made a strong recovery and is ready for a comeback. In a recent interview, Max Holloway expressed his desire for a rematch against Conor McGregor, regardless of weight class, to demonstrate how much the two have evolved over the years.
“There are a lot of questions, a lot of unknowns, because we’re just two different fighters than we were back then. I think it would be the fans’ favorite fight, I think many fans would love this fight, many fans are asking for this fight… At the end of the day, it’s not even a question of weight, I’d fight him anyway.“
Max Holloway recently secured an important victory over Arnold Allen, a highly praised fighter on a 10-fight winning streak. Although Holloway has already lost three times to Alexander Volkanovski, he is widely considered the favorite, as Volkanovski is considering Yair Rodriguez for his next fight.
Conor McGregor made a memorable debut in the UFC and, after a captivating post-fight speech, was tipped as the future of the division. Holloway was his opponent in the next fight and, although he didn’t come out on top, he was the only fighter to take McGregor to the judges’ decision. At the time, both fighters were promising candidates who would eventually rise to fame in the sport.
