Drew Timme, former Gonzaga men’s basketball player, was fired by the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday after just one season with the team. Timme had already signed a two-way contract with the Bucks in August, but his limited playing experience in the preseason, totaling just 13 minutes, led to his dismissal. However, the basketball career of the 6’4″ forward may not be over.
The clock is ticking according to the NBA’s waiver rules, with teams having a 48-hour deadline to claim Timme. Several NBA teams have yet to confirm their rosters for the 2023-24 season, opening up the possibility of Timme joining the Bucks’ G-League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd.
Dan Dickau, a former Gonzaga All-American with extensive NBA experience, gave his opinion on the situation. Dickau, a second-round pick of the Atlanta Hawks in the 2002 NBA draft, previously played for the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and New Orleans Hornets. In 2012, he quit basketball to pursue a career as a broadcaster. Previously, he worked for the Pac-12 Network, CBS Sports Network and Westwood One. He was also nominated as a studio commentator for ESPN.
In addition to his radio activities, Dickau co-founded the Dan Dickau Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to providing scholarships to high school and college students in and around Spokane. His involvement in the community and his insightful commentary on basketball have earned him a following in Spokane and elsewhere.
Dan Dickau’s extraordinary basketball career began at Gonzaga University, where he was a first-team All-American in 2002. He was instrumental in leading the Bulldogs to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament during his senior year.
Dan Dickau’s point of view is essential, as he is well known both in the basketball world and in the Spokane community. Drew Timme is projected to wear the Wisconsin Herd jersey at the start of the G-League season, which many hope will become a reality. The clock is ticking and basketball fans are waiting to see what Drew Timme will do next.
