Botafogo right-back Leonel Di Plácido firmly believes that his teammate Tiquinho Soares deserves to be called up to the Brazilian national team, joining Adryelson and Lucas Perri. Alvinegro currently has the largest number of players represented in the national team, alongside European giants Arsenal, Real Madrid and Tottenham.
Reflecting on the recent call-ups, Di Plácido expressed his excitement and pride at his teammates’ achievements, saying: “It gives you the creeps. They’re doing a very good job and deserve the opportunity“. He went on to share his expectation that Tiquinho Soares will receive a call-up to the national team soon, stressing that Tiquinho’s contributions on the pitch really deserve recognition.
The full-back’s enthusiasm for his teammates’ success was evident when he jokingly added:“When Adryelson comes back, I’m going to slap him (laughs)“. The camaraderie and mutual support within the Botafogo team are clear indicators of the close-knit atmosphere fostered by the club.
While Adryelson and Lucas Perri are currently representing Brazil under the guidance of Fernando Diniz in Montevideo, the Botafogo team continues its training under the command of Lúcio Flávio. Despite the absence of key players, the squad remains focused and united as they prepare for their next match against América-MG on matchday 27 of the Brasileirão.
Di Plácido, who arrived at Botafogo on loan from Argentinian side Lanús earlier this year, highlighted the strong bond between the players and the passionate support of the club’s fans. He expressed his admiration for Botafogo’s enthusiastic fans, describing the experience as a dream come true. “Every time I go out on the pitch, I can’t help but look at the stands and see people singing. That makes me very happy. I’m living a dream that I’ll remember for the rest of my life“, shared Di Plácido, emphasizing the deep connection he has developed with the club and its fans.
As Botafogo continue to enjoy success in national and international soccer, the prospect of Tiquinho Soares earning his place in the Brazilian national team seems a natural progression for this talented group of players.
