Fluminense announced the renewal of John Kennedy’s contract, extending his partnership until 2026. Previously set to expire in 2025, the striker’s contract was extended for another year.
The year 2023 was the year of John Kennedy’s greatest involvement with the Fluminense first team. He made 31 appearances, scored eight goals and provided four assists while wearing the Tricolor number 9 shirt. Notably, half of his direct contributions in goals came in Conmebol Libertadores matches.
In an interview with Fluminense’s official website, John Kennedy expressed his gratitude to the club’s fans and board for their trust and support, saying: “I’m very happy that my work has been recognized. Together for another good period at Fluminense. I’m thrilled and I’d like to thank Paulo Angioni, the president, the entire Tricolor team and the fans for their unwavering trust and affection.“
Fluminense have been in good form this year, but haven’t managed to recreate the same form of last season, when they finished third in the Serie A of the Brasileirão. However, the team can take solace in the fact that they are only five points behind second-placed Red Bull Bragantino. After losing to Botafogo a few days ago, the team will face Brazilian giants Corinthians, who are going through an incredible slump in form. Fluminense will be looking to finish strong in their last 12 games in their quest for a top four finish.
