Belgian soccer sensation Eden Hazard has hung up his boots at the age of 32, marking the end of an illustrious club career that spanned more than a decade. From Lille to Chelsea and then Real Madrid, Hazard’s journey in club soccer has been full of magical moments, leaving fans with unforgettable memories.
Starting his professional journey with French side Lille, Hazard quickly made a name for himself, scoring 50 goals in 149 appearances. His talent, agility and vision on the pitch attracted the attention of the main European clubs. However, it was Chelsea who managed to sign him in 2012 for a fee of £32 million.
At Stamford Bridge, Hazard’s career reached new heights. In seven seasons with Chelsea, he dazzled the Premier League with 110 goals in 352 appearances. His time at the club was marked by numerous achievements, including two Premier League titles.
Surprisingly, he also played a key role in Chelsea’s Europa League triumph in 2019, scoring the winning goal against Arsenal in the final. His performances for Chelsea solidified his reputation as one of the club’s all-time greats, with the club itself recognizing his significant contributions.
However, in 2019, Hazard made a high-profile transfer to Spanish giants Real Madrid for a staggering 89 million pounds. Although the transfer was greeted with much anticipation, Hazard’s time in Spain was marred by injuries.
In four seasons, he made 76 appearances and scored seven goals. Despite the challenges, he added to his trophy cabinet with titles such as the Champions League and La Liga during his time at Real Madrid.
Reflecting on his club career, Hazard expressed his gratitude to the teams he has represented. In his retirement statement, he mentioned:“I also want to thank the clubs I played for: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid“. His words resonated with the deep connection he felt with each club and the memories he created in them.
