Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker Vinicius Junior is back to his best after his season was hampered by injury. Recovering from a muscle injury suffered at the start of the season, the 23-year-old is back in goals, scoring for the second game in a row.
The former Flamengo striker had scored in Real’s 3-2 win over Napoli in the Champions League last week, and then scored another goal in the 4-0
4-0 win over Osasuna
.
Although there were doubts as to whether the winger could continue to deliver the goods with the weight of expectation that comes with the number 7, Vinicius showed that he doesn’t shy away from pressure.
The youngster received recognition from the Spanish press after his exceptional performances, while continuing to form a fantastic partnership with Jude Bellingham. The Englishman scored two goals in the win over Osasuna and was rated 10 out of 10 by Spanish newspaper Marca.
The Brazilian, on the other hand, received a 9 after providing the assist for Joselu and scoring a goal himself before being replaced by Joselu.
“He was in the news this week for his statement in court, but it’s on the pitch that the former Flamengo player speaks best. He had just rediscovered scoring in Naples and, against Osasuna, he wanted to do it again. He finished off a perfect individual move to score the first goal in his personal account and made a masterful move to assist Joselu. He was replaced by Rodrygo in the 72nd minute,” wrote Marca.
With his goal and assist, Vinicius has scored three goals and provided a single assist in seven matches in all competitions.
Bellingham’s brace and goals from Vinicus and Joselu ensured that Madrid remained top of the La Liga standings after nine rounds going into the international break. Real Madrid have 24 points, while Girona are in second place with 22.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men return to action on Saturday, October 21, when they travel to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to face Sevilla.
