at the Arena Neo Quimica.
“We had good control of the game, we managed to control possession well, we didn’t commit many attacks,” said Jorge. He emphasized the team’s effective control of possession and the fluidity of the game, with both sides creating opportunities on the counter-attack.
Jorge also highlighted the effectiveness of the goal-kicking strategy and praised the team’s performance in the second and third sectors of the pitch. He recognized the need for continuous improvement, especially in filling the area, as identified earlier against Bahia.
However, the absence of midfielder Gerson was felt by Flamengo. Jorge explained: “Gerson is a point of balance for the team. They can act in various positions and perform various functions. When you lose it, you lose your reference“. Despite the setback, the coach was optimistic about the contributions of players like Gabi and Arrascaeta as soon as they entered the match.
Speaking about Gabigol’s recent difficulties, Jorge asked for patience from both the coaching staff and the fans. “Fluctuations will happen during the season,” he said, emphasizing the need to support Gabigol as he goes through this phase.
As for the possibility of Tite’s arrival as coach, Jorge mentioned that there had been no internal discussions among the players, stating that the team was focused on its daily operations.
On his experience at Flamengo’s training center, Ninho do Urubu, Jorge praised the club’s infrastructure and highlighted the professionalism and respect shown by the players. He was willing to adapt and make the most of his role, whether now or in the future.
