Brazilian star Bruno Guimarães received a very special gift for his outstanding contribution during Newcastle United’s remarkable
Newcastle United’s remarkable 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League
earlier this week.
The Newcastle midfielder shone with an assist and received an emotional gift in recognition of his contribution to the victory. On leaving the pitch, Bruno received a warm welcome from the Newcastle fans, who surprised the Brazilian by throwing Kinder eggs onto the St. Mary’s pitch.
For those who don’t know, Bruno has already revealed in a documentary that he is tempted by Kinder eggs, a kind of cheat meal for him.
In an interview after the match, Guimarães was asked about the fans’ surprising gesture and said that he was happy with the recognition, but that he had decided not to accept any of the chocolate eggs.
“We were talking to the fans after the game, and they started throwing Kinder eggs onto the pitch, but I was a bit embarrassed to catch them. It’s good, it’s recognition. I think because of what I’ve done for the club, signing at one of the club’s worst moments, when nobody believed in him, me and Trippier. It’s certainly very special” said the Brazilian.
It has been reported that the 25-year-old is on the verge of signing a new contract with Newcastle. The Brazilian has played 10 games so far this season in all competitions, contributing two assists and a solitary goal.
“It’s a fairy tale. I knew that when I signed my contract, the first objective was to avoid relegation. I took a risk. It was risky, but I knew that if I played well in a strong league, my chances of going to the World Cup would increase. I went to the World Cup, I didn’t play much, but that’s how it is“, added Guimarães.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are sitting pretty at the top of their Champions League group with four points, while PSG have just three and are in second place. It’s the group of death, so Milan are third with two points, while Borussia Dortmund are bottom with just one point.
