Young Brazilian talent Endrick is about to reach a remarkable milestone that could significantly increase Palmeiras’ profits from his sale to Real Madrid. The promising center-forward was initially transferred to the Spanish club for 35 million euros, but an impressive performance clause in his contract could raise the final figure to an impressive 72 million euros, the equivalent of approximately R$400 million at the time of signing.
Endrick’s journey to unlock this substantial bonus took a significant step forward when he scored a goal during Palmeiras’ recent match against Bragantino. With that, his goal tally for the season reached eight, leaving him just two goals away from reaching the “trigger” stipulated in his contract for the second time.
The contractual bonuses, if met in full, have the potential to earn Palmeiras another 25 million euros. Initially, Endrick reached the milestone in June, when he reached his first five-goal milestone of the year, which earned the club a bonus of 2.5 million euros, the equivalent of around R$13 million at the current exchange rate.
Until Endrick leaves Palmeiras in July 2024, each goal he scores could add another 25 million euros to the club’s coffers. For every five goals scored, limited to 25 during this period, Verdão will pocket approximately R$13 million.
These contractual bonuses are largely linked to Endrick’s performance at Palmeiras, such as his achievements in terms of games played and goals scored. After his transfer to Real Madrid, his bonuses will depend on his performance for the Spanish side.
Real Madrid’s payment for the acquisition of Endrick is structured in two installments. The first payment was made in January this year, and the second installment is scheduled to be paid when the young striker officially joins the club. According to the regulations, he can only move to Europe once he turns 18, which will be in July 2024.
Endrick started the season as a starter for Palmeiras, but faced competition as the year went on, which resulted in reduced playing time. In 2023, he made 40 appearances, starting 19 of them and scoring eight times. Throughout his professional career, Endrick has made 47 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist.
The financial gain from Endrick’s transfer is a significant benefit for Palmeiras, as the club has already secured a total of R$207.9 million, including the fixed sale price of 35 million euros (R$194.9 million) and the initial bonus of 2.5 million euros (R$13 million) for his achievements to date. As the promising young talent continues to develop, Palmeiras’ future prospects look increasingly promising.
