In a significant development for Brazilian soccer, renowned coach Tite has officially accepted the offer to take over at Flamengo, a decision that marks a crucial step in the negotiations. The long-awaited announcement comes after weeks of speculation and discussions between Tite and the Rio de Janeiro club.
Tite’s decision to lead Flamengo has opened the door to discussions about the details of his contract, which should run until December 2024, coinciding with the end of president Rodolfo Landim’s term. This appointment signals a new era for Flamengo, which intends to capitalize on Tite’s knowledge and experience.
The sporting project presented by Flamengo made Tite enthusiastic about the prospect of managing the team. With the support of his family, Tite, who previously managed the Brazilian national team, recognized the opportunity to join Flamengo as a way to maximize the potential of 2024. This change reflects his commitment to the sport and his dedication to achieving success.
Accompanying Tite on this journey will be a trusted coaching staff that worked alongside him during his tenure with the Brazilian national team. Matheus Bacchi, César Sampaio and Cléber Xavier will take on the role of assistants, while Fábio Mahseredjian will be in charge of the team’s physical preparation. Mahseredjian brings with him previous experience at Flamengo, having worked at the club in 2003.
The agreement between Flamengo and Tite defined the start date of the FIFA date, October 9, as the ideal time to begin the collaboration. Tite sees this break as an opportune moment to familiarize himself with the team and start implementing his training methods.
Before dedicating himself fully to his new role, Tite needs to conclude discussions with a foreign club that has expressed an interest in his services. Among these clubs is Orlando City, who have stepped up their pursuit of the experienced coach in recent weeks.
With Tite’s confirmation, Flamengo are eager to start a new chapter in their soccer journey, aiming to begin this new phase next Monday, coinciding with the start of the FIFA date. It’s important to note that Tite’s upcoming debut, against Corinthians, is not seen as an obstacle to an immediate start, as the coach from Rio Grande do Sul is looking for enough time to prepare the team for the upcoming challenges, rather than taking over just a few days before a crucial match at the Arena Neo Química.
